Studying Industrial
Engineering. Vigo (Spain) Circa 1964 |
Serving in the Spanish Army,
before coming to America. Madrid 1970 |

 | I am a seasoned American
professional.
Born in Vigo, Spain ( 1948 ), I am 53 years old. I
was a precocious student who earned an Associate Degree in
Industrial Engineering ( Summa-Cum Laude ) at age 17. Immediately
after started to work for a car-manufacturer ( Citroën-Peugeot
Hispania S.A ). Some years later (1974) I earned an Electrical
Engineering Degree ( Magna Cum Laude ) from the University of Puerto Rico,
Mayagüez. In 1985 I did finish MBA studies with a high GPA ( concentration
Accounting ), at the Inter American University, Cagüas,
PR. In 1993 I received a Master of Telecommunications Degree from
the University of Colorado, Boulder. I do also have about one third of
the academic requirements for a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences (
Colorado State, Fort Collins, CO ). I had to abandon this program due to financial
reasons.
 |
 | I have been a software pioneer who founded
"Scientific Software" in 1978 (
registered in Suffolk, Long Island, NY ), and "Animal
Science Software International" ( ASSI Inc., Two Rivers,
Manitowoc, WI ) in 1991. Both operations were dedicated to
the development of database engines, as well as database
applications for farm operations (dairy herd control).
Oracle and Microsoft had
been founded one year earlier, and went public in the mid 80's.
My ventures -both- had to be closed down for lack of venture capital.
For more details about these entrepreneurships, please visit the "Pioneer"
page on this website. On this site you can also see a "balanced"
classic Résumé (meaning: not downplaying abilities -and positions
that I held- which could "over-qualify" me for certain jobs), as well as scans of academic
credentials,
business cards, newspaper articles about me or my products, and other
documents.
 |
 | During the late 70's I worked
as Radar
and Avionics Engineer at "Airborne
Instruments Laboratories" ( Long Island, NY ).
After that, I became a Telecommunication
Officer for
British Airways in Park Ave.,
NYC.
 | |
 | During the 80's I held several Engineering Managerial
positions where I had hundreds of manufacturing / testing employees
reporting directly or indirectly to me ( Columbia
Data Products, Gurabo, PR, and Storage
Technology of PR, Ponce, PR ). |
 |
 | I have
dedicated more
than 15 years of my professional life to software development.
Mostly in C and C++ ( Visual C++ and J++ [Java], with Microsoft SDK
(Software Development Kit) and MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes), but
also in Basic, Fortran, SAS, Assembly, Prolog and Cobol.
 |
 | During the 90's I held the position of Manager
of International Licensing for "LodgeNet
Entertainment", Sioux Falls, SD.
Since June of 1998
I have been working for "Independent
Technologies" of Omaha, NE. First as Director of
Software (at our R&D center in New London, MN). At ITC I
have developed
important Oracle database applications, in Visual
C++ and with ODBC (Open DB Connectivity), for our major client (
Sprint
). Currently I hold the position of Vice President of
International Sales, running operations from my home at Hillsboro Beach, FL.
 |
 | ITC is a small company, and my remuneration
is now -unfortunately- based 100% on commissions. Telecom sales
are down, as it is hurting. For that reason I am looking for new
horizons, and my boss knows about this decision. For references
you could call him, Daryl Ingalsbe (President of ITC, to whom I
report), or you could call Tim Odell (COO). For references at
LodgeNet, you could call Tim Flynn (President and CEO, to whom I used to
report). |
 | |
| | | | | | | | | |
 | It is tempting to continue working in
software development, first because I like it, and second because it has
been rewarding. For that reason, I have posted -on some Internet
sites- another more "skewed"
Résumé (meaning: one that only emphasizes the "software
development" aspect of my career). On that
resume I require a lesser minimum-salary, for what are supposed
to be less demanding responsibilities. Moreover, let us not
forget that in this area of technology I have to compete with recent
graduates (sporting the latest software fads, techno-jargon, and latest
tools).
 |
 | I
would like to explore for opportunities where I could use my knowledge
and abilities more effectively. Modesty aside, I can say that I have
absorbed a wide
spectrum of knowledge, since that first day of professional
work at Citroën-Peugeot Hispania S.A.,
(34
years ago ). Furthermore, I have been an
Engineer for the last 27+ years, and as such I have held managerial positions in manufacturing, field
installations and testing, international sales, financial analysis,
quality control, software development, venture entrepreneur, etc.
 |
 | In other words, I
am looking for that position that has eluded me for so long,
... the one which requires running all of a company's operations,
the Plant Manager position.
 |
 | International travel has kept me away
from loved ones for too long. Hence, I normally ignore offers
requiring more than 20% or 35% of
travel.
 |
 | My wife Mona is a Brazilian-born
American Artist who works from home ( her online Art Gallery is at www.MonaXuna.com ).
My daughter Alana is only 3 years-old and -therefore- does not go to
school yet. I have 3 grown-up sons from a
previous marriage (Ryan, Jason and Kelvin) all on their own now. None of
my sons lives with us in Florida ( for a pick at my family
members, you could visit our home-site at www.Xuna.net). We sold our home in S.
Dakota and we are currently renting, therefore
-if necessary- I could
relocate to another State or overseas (preferably
Latin America
or Western Europe). We are all US Citizens. I
held a US Secret Clearance in the past, when I worked for
a NASA and DOD sub-contractor (A.I.L -Airborne Istruments Laboratories) during the late 70's.
In
addition to English, I do speak vernacular
Spanish and Portuguese,
as well as -relatively fluent- French. I have lived in Paris,
France (1968).
